It’s insane and was honestly infuriating after 5 chapters because it was so against her personality that it just didn’t even seem realistic anymore. The strong, selfless heroine that was built up the whole first book is now a whiny, insufferable pile of emotions and acts like she has no idea why everyone is so mean to her and why she can’t just openly be in love with Ash in front of every one in the kingdom that hates her. Ash repeatedly explains at the VERY START of the story that he can’t help her once she goes to his kingdom, and won’t see her, and can’t be nice, etc.AKA, all the things any rational person would assume because she is going to be a prisoner of his queen and they all hate her and the summer court/half breeds in general and he would be a traitor if he acted like he cared about her, again, etc. The first six chapters are almost insufferable because of this and really make zero sense. However, the MASSIVE problem is that Meghan seems to have gotten a personality transplant from the first book, to the point that it becomes annoying to listen to her unreasonably dramatic emotions all the time. *No spoilers, but I do mention her general personality regarding her relationship with Ash, which is all mentioned in the first chapter, just FYI* I rated the overall higher than the story because the story line itself was still pretty solid. Make them resourceful and sure, romantic, but not dumb asses. Instead, make them beautiful and admirable from the inside out. I mean girls who don't fall in love with "ice princes" or vampires-with older men who abuse them.

And I don't mean girls whose only strength lies in how well they can wield a weapon or who can defy authority without thought. Please please please create strong female characters. Only a few thoughts for teen fiction authors. I could see it, and I could see it being very popular. Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?Ĭould you see The Iron Daughter being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be? Would you recommend The Iron Daughter to your friends? Why or why not? Probably not, unless they were fantasy fanatics.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not? Narrator is great, message to teen girls is poor
